3 Man Militia

The 3 man militia is set up for one main purpose, to be one part of the local community taking the responsibility of doing its share of helping to insure the physical safety of the local community.

Militias can only be used locally.
The militia does not, nor does it want to have the logistics to go any farther then its local area. You can watch the news and see how affective a local militia is, but it has its limits.

One common tread.
Since the main goal is to insure local safety, all members need to be proficient in the use of firearms, at least well enough to handle a firearm safely.
In the United States Marines, every Marine has to qualify with a rifle, this way you could turn to any Marine to help out in a gunfight. We need the basic understanding that we can count on each other too, at least, to look the part of being able to stand our ground.

All members need multiple skills;
Become skilled in two or three preparedness fields, such as chemicals and nuclear, advanced first aid, weapons and tactics, security, or others. Learn as a hobby; communications (shortwave radio, Hobo, Indian Sign, and others), take a first responder’s class, food and water storage, transportation, magic, electric, or any other skills which will be useful for your safety and/or in an emergency condition. Have the knowledge and equipment that will make you a valued asset to others. Learn to play or have fun with a musical instrument. Teach and share with others what you know. I have never been to a disaster where I have seen true professionals in their field. With your knowledge, you will make yourself useful to those that need your help.

My newest hobbies are leather craft, scuba diving, and making my own preventive care beeswax ointments. Have an open mind, be ready to learn and teach others.

Basic understanding of good morals is a must;
If we are called upon to go in to action as a militia, there is an overload of problems in the system for whatever reason. There is no way we can expect the law to fix those problems in a reasonable time, which is why it is necessary you have the good morals to bank on.

Limit members in your group;
Limit your militia to 3 to 5 members at a time. Once your membership reaches 6 break off to two three man units. Each unit needs to have their own special skills along with other skills they are perfecting.

You can belong to 2, 3, or more militias at the same time, as long as a militia can count on the main 3 members to be genuinely capable to perform that militia’s specialties.
Invite specialist in other fields to come speak and share their knowledge. Invite other militias to come and seat in. Who knows you may want to learn more on another subject, and this is a great way to network.

This is a your local militia, you make the rules;
You may want to meet weekly, every other week, monthly, or whenever, whatever is suitable. But you will need to be able to work together so you will need to spend some time to organize and find ways to practice what you have learned. Run some kind of drill every once in a while, so your group will gain confidence in its abilities.
Find people that need your help and use that as a way to gain experience. It may be a one time thing or you may want to help out a few hours a week for a month or two.

Your militia wants to specialize in one or two fields;
You want to be known by others for your group’s proficiency in a field which is or should be beneficial to the local community. You want to be as knowledgeable as possible or as knowledgeable as the professional in that field. If you can obtain the needed equipment or have access to it, would be better yet.

As you learn different specialties, your militia will flourish more then you can imagine. Others will want to learn and pick you mind, which will give you future leverage in more then one way.
Check in with the local police and sheriff departments and see if you can go with them as a, “Ride Along”. This will give you experience and an understanding how to organize along with meeting people.
